Health and Safety Guidelines for Inflatable Hire – R&B Inflatables
At R&B Inflatables, we are committed to ensuring the safety of all users when hiring our inflatable equipment. To achieve this, we ask our customers to follow these important health and safety guidelines:
1. Site Selection and Setup:
Location Responsibility:
It is the responsibility of the person hiring the inflatable to ensure that the location or venue is appropriate for setup. This includes checking that the area is flat, level, and clear of any sharp objects, debris, or potential hazards, and that it is free from overhead power lines, trees, or water bodies. Additionally, for indoor venues, it is essential to verify that the ceiling height is sufficient to accommodate the inflatable, allowing for safe setup and use.
Anchoring:
Our team will securely anchor the inflatable to ensure its stability. For outdoor hires, we use stakes driven into the ground, while for indoor hires, we use sandbags to secure the inflatable. Proper anchoring is crucial for the safety of all users.
Weather Conditions:
We continuously monitor weather conditions. Inflatables should not be used in strong winds or heavy rain as this can compromise safety. We adhere to manufacturer guidelines on maximum wind speeds, typically around 24mph (38km/h). We reserve the right to cancel, postpone, or refuse setup if weather conditions are deemed unsafe.
2. Outdoor Hire Restrictions:
Surface Requirements:
Please note that we do not offer outdoor hires on any surfaces other than real grass. This is because we cannot meet the required health and safety anchorage standards of approximately 163kg per anchor point on surfaces like concrete, tarmac, or artificial grass. Real grass allows for secure anchoring with stakes, ensuring the inflatable remains stable and safe for use.
3. Space and Access Requirements:
Adequate Space:
It is the responsibility of the person hiring the inflatable to ensure there is adequate space for safe setup and use. This is particularly important for venues with low ceilings or locations that do not have adequate access. Please verify that the setup area has enough clearance in all directions, including height, and that there is a clear path for transporting the inflatable to the setup location.
4. Inspection and Maintenance:
Pre-Use Inspection:
Prior to each hire, our team conducts a thorough inspection of the inflatable for any signs of wear and tear, including rips, tears, or loose seams. We also check the blower, power cables, and safety mats to ensure they are in good condition. Additionally, our team will inspect the site for any fouling from pets or other animals to ensure the area is clean and safe, avoiding any potential contact with users or the inflatable.
Regular Maintenance:
We regularly maintain and clean our inflatables to ensure they remain in top condition and are safe for use. All relevant inflatables are PIPA tested annually to comply with safety standards and ensure their reliability.
5. Supervision and Usage:
Supervision:
A responsible adult must supervise the inflatable at all times during its use. Our team will provide a safety briefing and explain emergency procedures to ensure the inflatable is used safely.
User Limits:
The number of users and weight limits must be adhered to as specified by the manufacturer. We recommend separating users by age and size to avoid accidents.
Health Considerations:
Anyone with health conditions, who is pregnant, or has pre-existing injuries should not use the inflatable equipment. This is to prevent any potential harm or exacerbation of existing conditions.
Safety Rules:
All users must follow safety rules, such as no rough play, somersaults, or flips. Shoes, jewelry, birthday pins, and other sharp objects must be removed before entering the inflatable to prevent injury or damage to the equipment.
6. Emergency Preparedness:
First Aid:
We recommend having a first aid kit available at the site. Our team can provide guidance on basic first aid procedures if needed.
Emergency Procedures:
Our team will brief you on emergency procedures, including how to quickly and safely deflate the inflatable in case of an emergency.
7. Compliance with Regulations:
Certification:
All our inflatables comply with UK safety standards, including the BS EN 14960 standard for inflatable play equipment.
Insurance:
We carry full public liability insurance to cover any potential accidents or injuries during the hire period. It is important to follow our Hire Agreement Terms and Conditions to avoid injury or accidents while using the inflatables.
8. Booking and Confirmation:
Deposit and Confirmation:
A non-refundable deposit is required to secure any inflatable hire. Once we receive the deposit along with the relevant hire information, we will send you a confirmation email. This email will include copies of our Welcome Message, Hire Disclaimer, Risk Assessment, and Public Liability Insurance.
9. Cleaning Charges:
Mess and Stains:
Please be aware that any inflatables, ball ponds, or soft play shapes left in a mess or stained from face paint will incur a cleaning charge. The amount of the charge depends on the items hired and the extent of the cleaning required. Details of these charges can be found in our Hire Agreement Disclaimer.
10. Right to Refuse Setup:
Safety First:
We reserve the right to not attempt setup or to refuse to fulfill the hire if we determine that the location or venue is unsafe or unsuitable for the inflatable equipment. This decision is made with the safety of all participants in mind.
11. Location Assessment:
Site Visits and Advice:
At R&B Inflatables, we are more than happy to research, work with you, or visit the location if feasible to ensure it is safe and adequate for the inflatable. This will allow us to provide the best advice on the inflatables available and ensure a smooth and secure setup.
12. Additional Services:
Staff Supervision:
If you require a member of R&B Inflatables staff to supervise the inflatable at your event, please note that their role is solely to ensure the safety of the users and the inflatable. They are not responsible for controlling the behavior of children or adults. The event organizer will need to manage and supervise behavior to maintain a safe environment for all participants.
Power Supply:
Generators can be hired at an additional charge to provide power for the inflatable. We also provide extension leads up to 45 meters in length; therefore, the power supply must be no more than 45 meters from the inflatable. While we ensure safety during setup and while the event is ongoing, it remains the responsibility of the event organizer to adhere to all necessary safety precautions regarding the power supply.
By adhering to these guidelines, you help us ensure a fun and safe experience for everyone involved. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to
